November 2013

Mark Your Calendar For Our 2013 Holiday Events

Sunday Night BBQ and Corporate Prayer:

Sunday, November 10, at 4:30:  This is our last time together for Sunday night fellowship and corporate prayer in 2013.  We are taking a break in December due to the holidays.  But this evening is strategic.  We will enjoy fellowship from 4:30 to 6:00 pm.  Our corporate prayer will begin at 6:00 and go to 7:15 or 7:30 as the Spirit leads.  We will exalt God together, pray for revival, and then plead for the salvation of the lost who participate in our holiday outreach ministries.  We want to shine the light of Christ this season.  But God must remove the veil of Satan blinding those who are perishing.  See 2 Cor 4:1-6.  This requires corporate prayer by us!

Thanksgiving Service:

We will celebrate Thanksgiving as a Church Family on Sunday,

November 24, at 6 pm.  This service will include a devotional, corporate praise, prayer, and the reading of the “leaves” from our traditional Thanksgiving Tree.  It will be a blessing for the entire family.  Families are encouraged to bring a pumpkin or apple pie for our fellowship time after the service.  Nursery care will be provided.  Please pray for Blain who will be teaching.

November F.E.E.D.:

The ladies will gather together on Monday, November 18, at 6 pm, for a special evening.  We plan to make Manzanita Holiday trees that can be decorated for Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter, etc.  We will make 2 trees, one to keep and one to give away.  The night will include a devotional and potluck dinner as well.  More information will be coming soon, but please mark your calendar.

Atterdag Village:

On Sunday, December 1, at 4 pm we will minister at Atterdag Village.  Please pray for Al Doctolero who will be teaching.  Our children will be singing in nativity dress.  Plan to bring the whole family.

Missionary Christmas Gifts:

Very soon we will have a basket on the Holiday table to collect funds toward Missionary Christmas gifts.  We will be sending monetary gifts to our missionary partners, the Kleis family and Todd and Celesta James.

Christmas Cards for Our Missionaries:

Encouraging missionaries who are often separated from their families, country and friends is one of the most important roles we play.  We can do that at this time of the year by remembering them with a Christmas card.  Boxes for the Missionary cards will be found on the Missions’ table in a couple of weeks.

Youth Christmas Party:

The Junior High and High School kids and their families will get together at the Shelly’s home for their traditional Christmas Party on Tuesday, December 3, from 6:00 – 9:00 pm.  It will be a potluck dinner and White Elephant gift exchange.

“Hope Is Born” Christmas Concert:

Sunday, December 8, at 6:30 pm:  Grace Baptist Church in Lompoc, [and perhaps Trinity Baptist in Solvang] will join us to bring the gospel and the “Hope is Born” concert to our community.  Steve Lively will be singing at this concert.  He will lead us in Christmas carols, and will also be accompanied on a few songs by his daughter, Laura.  I will be presenting the gospel to our guests.  We will advertise in the newspaper.  Promotional invites will be distributed to our friends and posted in key locations.  A sign will be made, and placed in a very strategic place in the SYV.  We will share Christmas desserts and fellowship following the concert.

 Christmas Caroling & Chili:

Sunday, December 15, at 4:30:  We plan to carpool from the church and sing at the homes of families and individuals within our Church body.  We will then return to the church for chili, cornbread, and Christmas cookies.  This is always a fun and memorable time for our church.

 Christmas Worship Service:

Sunday, December 22, at 10 am:  We will meet for our annual Christmas Worship celebration.  Please pray that many unbelievers will respond to our advertising and our personal invitations and pray for God’s blessing on the preaching of His Word – that Christ will be exalted and that the gospel will lead sinners to Him in saving faith.

Christmas Eve Service:

Once again we plan to share our Christmas Eve Service with Trinity Baptist Church on Tuesday, December 24, at 6 pm.  The candlelight Communion Service will be held at Trinity this year.  We will encourage the community to join us.  Nursery care is not provided.  Fellowship and dessert will follow the service.
